Invitation – 3rd Zurich Open

The Swiss Showdown Association is pleased to invite you to the third international showdown tournament in Zurich, Switzerland.

Hotel Ibis Styles Zurich City Center

The hotel is situated in the center of Zurich, seven minutes walking distance to both the main train station and the old town. It can be conveniently reached from the airport and the main station by public transportation or, from the main station, even by foot.

Program

            Arrival:                        Wednesday 13th after lunch

Opening ceremony:    Wednesday 13th after dinner

                    Competition:               Thursday 14th – Saturday 16th

            Closing ceremony:     Saturday 16th

            Departure:                  Sunday 17th after breakfast


 

Participation Fee

The participation fee includes four nights’ accommodation, and meals from Wednesday dinner up to Sunday breakfast.

·        EUR 500 for accommodation in a double room

·        EUR 650 for accommodation in a single room

·        EUR 480 for accommodation in triple room (limited availability)

Please notice, that only one triple or single room is available per country, and there is no guarantee of being allocated a single/triple room. Participants of a team consisting of an odd number of people will be given priority in the allocation of such rooms.

Competition

The competition will be held according to IBSA showdown rules, and players will receive IBSA ranking points. There will be six Czech tables and it will be played with Danish balls.

Number of Players

Due to the limited number of playing tables and the limited amount of hotel beds available, the number of players and accompanying people will be limited. The process of limiting participants is described in the appendix of this document.

Proof of visual Impairment

According to IBSA guidelines for tournaments providing ranking points, players need to provide a certificate, issued by a medical doctor, which testifies that their eyesight is in the range for B1, B2 or B3. Players who have a valid IBSA classification or have previously participated in the Zurich Open do not have to provide such a certificate.

Refund Policy

Cancellation up to September 22nd – 90% refund.

Cancellation up to October 13th – 50% refund.

Cancellation after October 13th – No refund

The Zurich Open OC resumes no responsibility for the visa arrangements of the participants. No extraordinary reimbursement will be made in case participants do not obtain a valid visa.

Transportation

Transfers from Zurich Airport and Zurich main station are offered.

·        The shuttle from and to the airport is EUR 20 per person (both ways)

·        An accompanying service on foot from and to the main station is free-of-charge

Extended Stay

There is the possibility to extend your stay in Zurich at the Ibis Styles for EUR 160 per night and double room (two people), including breakfast.

Appendix

Limitation of number of players and waiting list

First entry form – entry by numbers

Deadline:        June 16th 2024

In the first step of the registration the number of participants (including accompanying people) will be limited to a maximum of 8 people per country. Use the form ‘entry by numbers’ and enter the following:

-        the number of attending participants (players and accompanying people) of your country, who will attend the tournament. (mandatory)

-        the number of participants (players and accompanying people) that should be put on the waiting list. (optional)

After the deadline (16 June 2024) any remaining available places will be distributed to countries which have submitted a waiting list.

Second entry form – entry by names

Deadline:        August 8th 2024

The second step of the registration needs to be completed as soon as the entry spots available to each country are known. Use the form ‘entry by names’ and enter the following:

-        name, surname

-        room assignments

-        transfer wishes

Payment and Transfer Details Deadline

After the approval of the second entry form, invoices will be sent to participating countries. The invoices must be settled by September 8th 2024.

The deadline for transfer and other details is October 8th 2024.
