The Swiss Showdown Association invites you to the second international showdown tournament in Switzerland 2nd Zurich Open

Location (accommodation and competition): 

Hotel Ibis Styles Zurich City Center

This hotel is situated in the center of Zurich, with seven minutes walking distance to both the main train station and the old town. You can conveniently reach it from both the airport and the main station by public transportation or (from the main station) even by walking.

Program:

            Arrival: Wednesday 22nd after lunch.

Opening ceremony: Wednesday 22nd after dinner.

                Competition: Thursday 23rdSaturday 25th.

            Closing Ceremony: Saturday 25th.

            Departure: Sunday 26th after breakfast.

Participation Fee:

            450 EUR with accommodation in double room.        

 650 EUR with accommodation in single room (there is no guarantee for a single room, except for one person, if the team consists of an odd number of people)).

430 EUR with accommodation in triple room (only few triple rooms available).

The participation fee includes four nights and meals from Wednesday dinner up to Sunday breakfast. 

As a rule, only one triple or single room is available per country.

Competition:

The competition will be held according to the actual IBSA showdown rules, and you will receive IBSA ranking points. There will be four Czech tables and we will play with Danish balls.

Number of players:

Since we have only four tables and a limited amount of hotel beds available, we will have to limit the number of players and accompanying people. The process of limiting participants is described in the appendix of this document.

Proof of visual impairment:

According to the IBSA guidelines for tournaments providing ranking points, we need a certificate by an actual medical doctor which testifies that the eyesight of the player is in the range for B1, B2 or B3. Players who already have a valid IBSA classification or participated in the last year’s event do not have to provide such a certificate.

Refund policy:

Cancellation up to September 30th: 90% refund.

                Cancellation up to October 20th:       50% refund.

                Cancellation after October 20th:       No refund.

Transportation

We will offer transfers from both Zurich airport and Zurich main station.

The transfer fee from and to the airport is 20 EUR total per person by shuttle..

The transfer from the main station is free. However, there is no shuttle, but you will be accompanied on the walk from the station to the hotel.

Extended stay

If you decide to extend your stay in Zurich (what we consider a clever idea  ), we can offer you a rate of 160 EUR for two people in a double room, breakfast included.

Appendix

Limitation of number of players and waiting list

First entry form (entry by numbers)

Deadline: June 25th

In the first step of registration, we will limit the number of participants to a maximum of 7 people per country according to the rules which you find on the form for entry by numbers.

In the first step of registration (entry by number) you tell us, how many players and accompanying people your country will send to the tournament.

You can also tell us, how many players and participants you want to put in the waiting list.

After the deadline for the first entry form, if there are places available, we will distribute them to the countries which have people on the waiting list.

Second entry form (entry by names)

Deadline: August 15th

When each country knows how many places are available to them, we ask them to send us the second entry forms with all the names, room assignments and wishes for transfers.

Payment

Deadline: September 15th

After handing in the second entry form you will receive an invoice per country which hast to be paid by August 30.
